Reseña/Review: Lip Monthly’s July Bag

Digo esto con orgullo: ¡Soy adicta a los productos para labios! En parte de ahí se deriva mi frustración con ipsy y Birchbox en el pasado cuando no me han mandado suficientes labiales. Incluso, soñaba con que hubiera un sistema de suscripción de ese tipo de productos solamente. Por suerte, los dioses me escucharon y hace unos meses descubrí en Instagram a Lip Monthly, que se dedica a enviar mayormente de 4 a 5 productos labiales y alguna muestra de maquillaje o de una fragancia en tamaño normal o de muestra, todo dentro de una cartera para cosméticos.

I say this with pride: I’m addicted to lip products! Part of my frustration with ipsy and Birchbox comes from that fact, since in the past they haven’t sent me enough lip products. I even dreamed of a subscription service that would only send these kinds of products. Luckily, the gods listened to me and some months ago I discovered Lip Monthly on Instagram. This company sends 4 to 5 full size or sample size lip products and makeup or fragrance sample, all inside a cosmetics bag.

Reseña/Review: tartelette Amazonian clay matte palette

Hace par de meses, una amiga me preguntó si yo quería unos productos de maquillaje que ella no había usado, pues ella pensaba que los colores no le favorecían. Como buena #MakeupJunkie le dije que sí, pues estas oportunidades se dan muy poco en la vida (Helloooo! ¡Maquillaje gratis!). Uno de los productos era recién lanzado y de tarte, una marca que me moría por probar. Así fue que descubrí el tartelette Amazonian clay matte palette.

Some months ago, a friend asked me if I would like to have some makeup products that she had not used because she thought the shades didn’t look good on her. Like the good #MakeupJunkie that I am, I said yes, since this kind of thing doesn’t happen every day (Helloooo! Free makeup!). One of the products was recently launched and it was from tarte, a brand that I was dying to try. That’s how I discovered the tartelette Amazonian clay matte palette.

Este mes continué suscrita a ipsy luego de haber regresado el mes pasado. Contrario a mi reseña de mayo, en donde di breves primeras impresiones de los productos que había usado hasta ese momento, este mes decidí hacer una especie de unboxing. O sea, describir los productos que me llegaron y dar una opinión de la variedad de los productos. Todos son en tamaño muestra.

This month I kept subscribed to ipsy after returning last month. Unlike my May review, in which I gave brief first impressions of the products I had used so far, this month I rather decided to do an unboxing. In other words, to describe the products I got and give an opinion regarding the product variety. All of them are sample size.

Reseña/review: Studio 35 Beauty Mint Facial Masque

Hace poco tuve que reconsiderar parte de mi rutina de belleza, pues me di cuenta de que las mascarillas que estaba usando me causaban enrojecimiento en la piel. Por eso y otras razones, mi madre (quien era esteticista y dueña de un salón de belleza), me recomendó usar una mascarilla suave que relajara mi piel. Así fue que terminé en Walgreens, decidida a comprar la clásica Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. Sin embargo, no estaba disponible, por lo que decidí probar la versión de Walgreens de tan famoso producto.

A little while ago, I had to reconsider part of my beauty routine, since I realized that the facial masks I was using were causing me redness. Because of that and other reasons, my mother (who was an aesthetician and once owned a beauty salon), recommended me to use a smooth facial mask to relax my skin. That’s how I ended up in Walgreens with the intention of buying the classic Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. However, it wasn’t available, which is why I decided to try the Walgreens version of that famous product.    

Reseña/Review: Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick (Limited Edition for the Maybelline 100 Queen of New York Collection)

Confieso que nunca había tenido (hasta donde yo recuerdo) un lipstick de Maybelline, a pesar de que uso algunos de sus otros productos (¡los cuales son muy buenos!). Cuando en abril salió la noticia de que Maybelline estaba celebrando sus 100 años (happy birthday!) con el lanzamiento de una colección de edición limitada (disponible solo en tiendas), supe que tenía que comprarme algo de ella. Esto es porque hace poco decidí empezar a coleccionar las ediciones limitadas de aniversario. Finalmente, compré uno de los Color Sensational Lipsticks de la colección para probarlo de una vez.

I confess that I’ve never had (as far as I know) a lipstick from Maybelline, even though I use some of their other products (which are really good!). When news came on April that Maybelline was celebrating their 100th anniversary (happy birthday!) with the release of a limited edition collection (available in-store only), I knew that I had to buy something from it. This is because not too long ago I decided to start collecting the limited editions from brand anniversaries. I bought one of the Color Sensational Lipsticks from the collection not only for lipstick hoarding purposes, but to finally try a Maybelline lipstick.

Reseña/Review: L’Oréal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation

Recientemente decidí cambiar la base que uso desde que era adolescente, pues no me duraba tanto el maquillaje y la grasa acumulada en mi rostro me hacía ver como, erm, fritura en vitrina. Compré una base de larga duración y acabado matte, pero aunque se veía muy bien y se quedaba en su sitio, la sentía muy pesada. Luego supe que L’Oréal lanzó el Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation y decidí probarlo.

I recently decided to change the foundation that I’ve been using since I was a teenager. I came to that decision because my makeup didn’t stay well put and the oil accumulated on my face made me look like, erm, a French fry. I bought a long-lasting foundation, but even though it looked good on me and it stayed in place, I felt it was too heavy. Then I found out that L’Oréal launched the Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation and I decided to try it.

Reseña/Review: Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer

Mientras “jangueaba" (suena mejor que “surfeaba”) en Instagram, descubrí el Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer en el color Tourmaline. Me enamoré de inmediato ese color, por lo que decidí comprarlo. Además, estaba intrigada por esa nueva línea de glosses que vino junto a los Revlon Ultra HD Lipsticks (lee mi reseña del lipstick aquí).

While “hanging out” (sounds better than “surfing”) on Instagram, I discovered the Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer in Tourmaline. I fell in love with that shade, so I decided to purchase it. Plus, I was intrigued by that new line of glosses that came along with the Revlon Ultra HD Lipsticks (read my lipstick review here).

El año pasado estuve suscrita por dos meses a ipsy, uno de los más populares servicios de suscripción en la actualidad. Consiste en pagar $10.00 mensuales (con opción de cancelar en cualquier momento, pero para más detalles visita a ipsy.com) a cambio de cuatro a cinco productos de belleza (ya sea en tamaño de muestra o en tamaño regular) junto a una carterita para cosméticos llamada glam bag. Decidí unirme a la fiebre para probar. La idea es chévere porque tiene este aire de misterio al despertar la curiosidad de adivinar qué te enviarán. Aunque hubo par de productos que me gustaron y las carteritas eran super cute, cancelé mi suscripción al no estar 100% satisfecha y para economizar dinero. Sin embargo, este mes decidí volver para ver qué tal está ipsy en la actualidad, porque me enamoré del blush de Hikari que incluyeron en el glam bag de abril y para documentar mi experiencia para el blog.

Last year, I was subscribed for two months to ipsy, one of the most popular subscription services right now. It consists of paying $10.00 each month (with the option of cancelling at any moment, but for further details visit ipsy.com for a makeup bag with four or five beauty products (either in sample size or full size), all of this under the name of “glam bag”. I decided to join to see what it was all about. The idea itself is fun because of its air of mystery, since it awakens your curiosity when trying to guess what will they send you. Even though there were a few products that I liked and the makeup bags were super cute, I cancelled my subscription because I wasn’t 100% satisfied and I wanted to save some money. However, I decided to reactivate my subscription for this month to see how things were nowadays, because I fell in love with the Hikari blush they included in the April Glam Bag, and to chronicle my experience for the blog.

Review: Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick

Hace unos meses, Revlon lanzó al mercado una nueva línea de lipsticks y lip glosses bajo el nombre “Ultra HD”. Compré una tonalidad de cada producto y en este post reseñaré el lipstick.
