Reseña/Review: L’Oréal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation

Recientemente decidí cambiar la base que uso desde que era adolescente, pues no me duraba tanto el maquillaje y la grasa acumulada en mi rostro me hacía ver como, erm, fritura en vitrina. Compré una base de larga duración y acabado matte, pero aunque se veía muy bien y se quedaba en su sitio, la sentía muy pesada. Luego supe que L’Oréal lanzó el Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation y decidí probarlo.

I recently decided to change the foundation that I’ve been using since I was a teenager. I came to that decision because my makeup didn’t stay well put and the oil accumulated on my face made me look like, erm, a French fry. I bought a long-lasting foundation, but even though it looked good on me and it stayed in place, I felt it was too heavy. Then I found out that L’Oréal launched the Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation and I decided to try it.

Primero que nada, hago la aclaración de que no probé la base por 24 horas para comprobar si lo que promete L’Oréal es cierto, pues realmente es imposible hacerlo (al menos para mí). Además, acostarse a dormir con maquillaje es un pecado capital de la belleza. Sí la tuve puesta más de ocho horas en varias ocasiones y los resultados fueron muy satisfactorios.

First and foremost, I must clarify that I did not try the foundation for 24 hours to prove if what L’Oréal promised is true, since it’s impossible to do it (at least for me). Plus, going to sleep with makeup on is a capital sin of beauty. I did wear the foundation for more than eight hours and the results were very satisfactory.

Empecemos con el color. De todas las bases que he usado, 02 Shell Beige es (hasta el momento) la tonalidad que más empareja con mi tono de piel. Claro está, en las fotos que acaban de ver no se puede apreciar bien por estos factores: 1. La base está acumulada al ser un swatch, por lo que se ve con más color. 2. La base no siempre se ve igual en el brazo (donde hice el swatch) y en la cara, pues nuestras caras están más expuestas al sol que el interior del brazo. Me encanta el hecho de que el color no oxida a anaranjado como me ha pasado con otras marcas. La textura es, en efecto, semi-matte. Se siente liviana y no sentí como si tuviera puesta una máscara o demasiado maquillaje. Pude ver y sentir que tenía puesta la cantidad justa y necesaria. El producto se queda en su sitio, y mi rostro se veía fresco por eso mismo y por su ligereza. Mis imperfecciones de la piel quedaron bastante cubiertas.

Let’s begin with the shade. Of all the foundations that I’ve used, 02 Shell Beige is (so far) the shade that matches the most with my skin tone. Then again, in the pictures that you just saw you can't really appreciate that because of these factors: 1. The foundation is accumulated because it is a swatch, which makes it look like it has even more color. 2. The foundation doesn't always look the same way on the arm (where I did the swatch) and on the face, since our faces are more exposed to the sun than the interior part of our arms. I love the fact that the color does not oxidize to orange like it has happened to me with other brands. The texture is, indeed, demi-matte. It feels light and I didn’t feel like I was wearing a mask or too much makeup. I could see and feel that I was wearing the right amount. The product stays on its place, and my face looked fresh because of that and because of its lightness. My skin imperfections were mostly covered.

En conclusion... / In conclusion...

¡El Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation se queda en mi vanity tray! Me gustó mucho desde el primer día que lo usé. Terminé sustituyendo mi base anterior por esta porque estoy super satisfecha y contenta con los resultados. Ahora, creo (y quizás es lo más lógico) que debe usarse con un polvo matte, pues el que uso ahora, aunque es sin aceite, no tiene un acabado matte, por lo que siempre termina colándose un poco de brillo en mi frente, pues mi piel es combination to oily. También me gustó mucho el empaque: delgado, plástico y se puede guardar con facilidad.

The Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation stays on my vanity tray! I really liked it since the first day I used it. I ended up substituting my previous foundation for this one because I’m super satisfied and happy with the results. Now, I think (and it might logical) that it should be used with a matte powder, because the one that I use, even though it has no oil, doesn’t have a matte finish. This is why I end up with some shine on my forehead, since my skin is combination to oily. I also liked a lot the packaging: slim, plastic, and it can be easily stored.
